WHAT IS AYURVEDA
At the core, Ayurveda is a functional medicine approach based on a simple classification system. This system matches diet, lifestyle, and herbs to the individual to improve health & wellness.
The basis of Ayurvedic philosophy is the belief that the intelligence of the natural world is within each of us. The five basic elements of the universe – ether, air, fire, water and earth – combine in the body into three characteristic humors (doshas): Vata (ether and air), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (water and earth).
Ayurveda’s fundamental approach to well- being is by balancing our constitutional principles: , known as doshas VATA, PITTA, and KAPHA which are the center of the Ayurvedic concept.
Vata is the wind & space energy
Pitta is the fire & water energy
Kapha is the water & earth energy
Doshas are energies. On the whole, the Ayurvedic tradition can help us to improve our health and vitality by balancing our natural rhythms by eating the right foods as the 1st step.
